Godalming provides excellent communication links by rail and road. The A3 is approximately 1.5 miles from the town centre, giving good access to London, The South Coast and the South East Motorway Network, (M25 20 minutes driving). Rail connections from Godalming provide trains to London Waterloo, with a travelling time of 45 minutes. Additional stations can be found at Farncombe. Milford and Witley, giving the majority of residential housing within the area, very easy railway access. There are also regular and reliable bus connections to Guildford and the surrounding villages, including weekend services.

Four miles from Godalming is the cathedral town of Guildford. With it's superb range of retail outlets, theatres, cinemas, a leisure centre, swimming pools and restaurants, Guildford is a central county attraction for recreation and shopping.

The University of Surrey is based in Guildford, as is the College of Technology. Many of the larger companies have chosen the town as their base, providing a range of employment possibilities in the service manufacturing, retail, entertainment and leisure industries.
